Course Overview

Students will study the immediate and long-range effects of physical activity on the physiological and metabolic functioning of the human body. Students will engage in case-based learning and data interpretation to deepen their theoretical understanding and prepare to attend laboratory-based classes (once a week) during the week. Special attention is focused on physical fitness, metabolism, training and conditioning, exercise programming, nutrition, environmental influences, athletic aids, and sex and gender differences among participants. Students are required to take PER 471 Exercise Physiology Lab concurrently.

BIO 203 Anatomy & Physiology for Human Services Majors, SRF 204 Concepts and Skills of Physical Fitness, SRF 341 Functional Anatomy, and SRF Majors; or permission of the instructor.
