Patient's Rights
As a patient of the Student Health Service, you have a right to:
- Be treated with respect, consideration, and dignity.
- Receive an explanation of your diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis in terms that you can understand.
- Ask questions if you are not sure.
- Refuse care, except as prohibited by law, and be informed of the consequences of making this decision.
- Actively participate in decisions regarding your health and treatment.
- Feel assured of privacy.
- Know the names and positions of people involved in your care.
- Ask and receive an explanation of any charges.
- Obtain another medical opinion.
Your responsibilities to the Student Health Service are to:
- Provide honest and accurate information related to your symptoms and past health history.
- Provide the necessary personal information to complete your file.
- Follow the agreed upon health plan.
- Ensure that any charges billed to you are paid.
- Follow the rules and regulations that are posted within the Student Health Service.
- Be courteous and respectful to health personnel and to other patients.
