Patient's Rights

As a patient of the Student Health Service, you have a right to:

  • Be treated with respect, consideration, and dignity.
  • Receive an explanation of your diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis in terms that you can understand.
  • Ask questions if you are not sure.
  • Refuse care, except as prohibited by law, and be informed of the consequences of making this decision.
  • Actively participate in decisions regarding your health and treatment.
  • Feel assured of privacy.
  • Know the names and positions of people involved in your care.
  • Ask and receive an explanation of any charges.
  • Obtain another medical opinion.

Your responsibilities to the Student Health Service are to:

  • Provide honest and accurate information related to your symptoms and past health history.
  • Provide the necessary personal information to complete your file.
  • Follow the agreed upon health plan.
  • Ensure that any charges billed to you are paid.
  • Follow the rules and regulations that are posted within the Student Health Service.
  • Be courteous and respectful to health personnel and to other patients.
